Rear Admiral (ret) John Padgett

John B. Padgett, III is Electric Boat’s Vice President – Business Development and Strategic Planning. He joined the company in December 2003 following a 34-year career in the U.S. Navy.
A career submarine officer, Padgett commanded the attack submarine USS Omaha (SSN692), served as Commander, Submarine Squadron ELEVEN and was the 75th Commandant of Midshipman at the U.S. Naval Academy.
Following selection to flag rank, Padgett served on the staff of United States Strategic Command, on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations and as Commander, Submarine Group TWO.
Padgett’s final assignment on active duty was as the 30th Commander, Submarine Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet.
A 1969 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mr. Padgett also holds a Master of Science degree in Engineering Science and Mechanics from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
