Communities of Practice support technology specialists’ specific needs
A new communities-focused initiative has been launched to create realtime interfaces between experts, key players and protagonists in niche technology communities – most inadequately served by existing social networks, events or associations.
In order to promote information exchange, networking and commercial needs of ALL representatives from highly focused technical communities, top experts from each field – e.g. Sonar, Non-lethal Weapons, and Communications – will be invited to join one or more Communities of Practice (COPs).
COPs will be championed independently of MAST, by a volunteer – recognised by his/her existing contributions to the technical field – to foster collaboration and interface outside the physical confines of events or workplaces, on a regular basis throughout the year.
One effect of COPs’ activities upon MAST will be to converge meetings of all COP members at the events, increasing overall attendance, but as importantly making MAST a more valuable event to attend than multiple events porrly serving niche technology groups, and giving currently ‘disenfranchised’ technologists an event of their own.

Russian participation at MAST helps my country to be closer to European nations and will assist the common efforts on a creation of reliable security. We hope for further and effective cooperation.
