DSIT focuses on sonar and acoustic solutions for the naval and homeland security markets.
In the last several years the name DSIT has become synonymous with the field of underwater site security. The company pioneered the market with its AquaShield™ Diver Detection Sonar system, which was the first system of its kind to be sold to an oil terminal.
Today the AquaShield™ is a 5th generation Diver Detection Sonar (DDS) system, incorporating years of experience accumulated from continuous operation at multiple sites around the world. The system is currently operational in-the-water, protecting naval bases, energy terminals, commercial ports and other high value assets from underwater intrusion. AquaShield’s unique modular design enables tailoring of the system to customer requirements and site specific geography. The AquaShield™ offers a very long range of detection for even the weakest of targets, and can easily handle hundreds of targets simultaneously. The combination of a fully automatic mode of operation, very low maintenance requirements and high system reliability create a highly cost-effective system.
Designed with a single purpose in mind – superior performance – the AquaShield™ is the most advanced and capable underwater site security system available. It’s entire concept of operation is designed to defeat the combat doctrine of underwater asymmetric threats such as naval commandos and terrorist frogmen.
Over time it became apparent that underwater site security often involves a demand to protect specific and well defined zones, such as a section of a narrow river, a water intake channel or a constricted area. In response to this need, DSIT added a second Shield™ to its underwater site security line – a highly accurate diver detection sonar system to cover short ranges – the PointShield™ DDS.
Like its bigger brother the AquaShield™ DDS, the PointShield™ boasts a unique modular design that enables tailoring of the system to customer requirements and site specific geography. This new tough but light DDS can also handle hundreds of targets simultaneously. Its size and weight make it easy to lift and install.
Ease of integration of both the AquaShield™ DDS and PointShield™ DDS make them ideally suited to work as part of an overall Harbor Surveillance system (HSS). DSIT's PortView™ HSS incorporates the AquaShield™ DDS, the PointShield™ DDS, a search radar, Day/Night thermal cameras and other surveillance sensors into a comprehensive above and below water Command & Control system.
DSIT also offers a wide range of other sonar and acoustic solutions including sonar simulators and trainers for ASW and submarine sonar operators, the Mobile Acoustic Range (MAR) that accurately measures radiated ship and submarine noise, and the Underwater Acoustic Signal Analysis system that processes and analyzes all types of acoustic signals.
