MAST Americas will achieve a “first” for this type of event, by focusing the second day on education and opening the event to the next generation of scientists, engineers, mathematicians, and technicians (by actively incorporating them into the conference).
Students from a District of Columbia School will be invited for the plenary session and to present some of their efforts (science fair projects for example) to MAST Americas participants where they will have an opportunity to discuss their efforts with many of the senior scientists attending the Conference. The plenary speaker, Professor Cynthia Breazeal, is an Associate Professor of Media Arts and Sciences at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where she founded and directs the Personal Robots Group (formerly the Robotic Life Group) at the Media Lab. She is a pioneer of Social Robotics and Human Robot Interaction (HRI). The effort reflects NUWC’s −and the Navy’s− commitment to nurturing future leaders and members of a diverse workforce through innovative, energizing engagement with elementary, middle, and high school students.

The plenary session to kick off the third day of MAST Americas will tackle the challenges, opportunities and current international partnering efforts led by a select group of US Navy Program Executive Officers (PEOs) and Acquisition Executive from the US Coast Guard.
Participation has already been confirmed by Program Executive Officer (PEO) - SHIPS, Program Executive Officer (PEO) - IWS, Program Executive Officer (PEO) - LMW, and Program Executive Officer (PEO) - SUBs. Each speaker will present their requirements and highlights for their key programs. Following the briefings a moderator will lead the group through a question and answer panel discussion. Delegate questions will be solicited in advance from pre-registered delegates and posed during the session. To ensure you have a chance to put your question(s) to the panel, sign up as a MAST Americas delegate now and send your question(s) to warren.edge@mastconfex.com.
